The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R already represented one of the most capable full-sized adventure bikes on the market, with the ability to eat up thousands of miles, whether traversing the tarmac or dirt. For the 2023 model year, the Ready To Race brand has managed to one-up itself with its new second-generation KTM 1290 Super Adventure R.
Equipped with a skid plate, hand-guards, and a full suite of crash bars all as standard, KTM’s new top-of-the-line flagship adventure bike is constructed around a newly-designed powder-coated Chrome-moly tubular space frame that weighs only 22lbs and was engineered to enhance cornering stability and to bolster response under acceleration. The new chassis has been paired with a 48mm WP XPLOR fork, a WP steering damper, and a WP XPOR PDS shock. Powering the bike is a 1,301cc 75° V-Twin engine that’s mated to a PASC slipper clutch and good for 159hp and 101.7ft-lbs of torque. Riding on a 21/18” Akront aluminum spoked wheelset shod in Bridgestone AX41 tires, the bike also gets a completely redesigned 6.1-gallon three-part fuel tank, top-shelf Brembo brakes, tapered aluminum handlebars, a new adjustable rally-inspired windscreen, revised rider ergonomics, and new graphics options.
Brimming with cutting-edge tech, KTM’s latest full-sized adventure model also sports onboard tire pressure monitoring sensors, cornering stability control, a massive 7” TFT display, a USB phone pocket, illuminated switchgear, KTM’s Turn-by-Turn+ guidance, a RACE ON remote key system, Bosch 10.3ME Combined-ABS with adjustable and customizable settings, auto-resetting indicators, cruise control, and dedicated off-road traction control, off-road ABS, and off-road ride modes.
Scheduled to hit dealerships this month, the 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R Motorcycle has been priced starting at $20,299.
