While car lovers around the country are awaiting the release of Toyota’s next Land Cruiser, they can take solace in the knowledge that the Japanese automaker’s luxury brand, Lexus, is ready and willing to pick up that slack. In a press release, Lexus announced the release of the fourth generation of their flagship SUV, the LX 600. The newly designed SUV is off-road ready, loaded with tech, and comes with a gorgeous interior that redefines the brand’s commitment to luxury and comfort.
The all-new 2022 Lexus LX 600 is a complete redesign from its past iterations and stands out as the swankier, more sophisticated version of the new Toyota Land Cruiser. From the outside, the LX 600 has a more modern take on its traditionally blocky design than we’ve seen before. An interesting upgrade that the SUV brings with it is its new GA-F platform, which is 441 pounds lighter than the previous generation. Performance-wise, the LX 600 has the same twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 engine with 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque that the Land Cruiser has. It possesses double-wishbone front suspension and retains the four-link setup on its rear suspension from the previous generation of LX. Furthermore, the LX 600 has electronic power steering and an electronically controlled brake system that provides an upgraded level of stability off-road when used in tandem with its Multi-Terrain Select. Inside, however, is where we see the greatest upgrade to the LX with Lexus’ first-ever dual-display configuration for its interface, which now sports a 12.3″ upper screen and 7″ lower screen. Another big tech upgrade the LX 600 brings to the table is the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5, which features a pre-collision system, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection and cyclist detection, and road sign assist.
In addition to the standard version, the LX 600 also comes in an F Sport trim that includes 22-inch forged aluminum wheels, better suspension, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and a rear stabilizer. Lastly, there is an Ultra Luxury trim that comes with a four-seat layout that features rear reclining seats that have their own footrests. Lexus plans on releasing the LX 600 in Q1 of 2022 and has yet to release pricing information.
