Land Rover Classic is the factory’s own restomod shop, the official outfit that takes old Defenders and rebuilds them into six-figure heirlooms. For years that kind of work belonged to independent tuners, but the original manufacturer has been steadily clawing the territory back.
Its latest flex is a set of four matching Classic Defender V8s, commissioned by a single buyer, all wearing this stunning color-changing paint.

A Color That Reads Three Ways
The finish is called Spectral Green, and depending on the angle and the light it slides between deep green, violet, and a flash of gold. It coats the diamond-turned 18-inch Sawtooth wheels, the badging, and even the center fascia panel inside, so the trick follows you all the way into the cabin.

Land Rover says each truck spent close to 400 hours in the paint booth, which translates to roughly two standard work months, and that’s per vehicle – on color alone. An Icy White roof, expedition cage, and hand-painted coachlines contrast nicely against the shimmer, while the cabin leans the other way entirely with Vanilla Bridge of Weir leather and green contrast stitching.

There’s a Real Truck Underneath
It’s easy to forget under all that sparkle, but these are proper Works Bespoke V8s. Each one starts as a 2012 to 2016 donor Defender, gets stripped to the frame, and receives a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 making 405 PS (400 hp) and 515 Nm (380 lb-ft), routed through an eight-speed ZF automatic.

The rest gets the full rebuild too. Uprated springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, bigger 335mm and 300mm discs with four-piston calipers, and four-wheel drive with a low range. So yes, you could theoretically take a $250,000 piece of jewelry off-roading. We’re not saying we would, but you absolutely could.

The Double Cab Finally Makes the Cut
The bigger news for anyone actually speccing one of these is the body style sheet. The 110 Double Cab Pick-Up is now available for V8 commissions, joining a new two-seat 90 Hard Top alongside the existing Station Wagon and Soft Top options.

There’s also a fresh 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a blacked-out Trophy Pack, and new roof and wheel colors. One catch for us stateside (there always is), the donor cars aren’t old enough to clear the 25-year import rule, so admiring from afar is the only move.

Pricing & Availability
Land Rover Classic doesn’t quote a figure for this exact quartet, and bespoke commissions like these climb well past the program’s floor. As a baseline, the Classic Defender V8 starts at £190,000 plus VAT (around $250,000), with the special paint and full-leather interior pushing the bill considerably higher. Commissions run through the Land Rover Classic website.
