Most of the EV world has spent the last decade in an arms race over range figures and 0-60 times. A Portugal-based startup called Amble looked at all of it and decided to go in a completely different direction.
Its debut vehicle, the Amble One, is a street-legal electric buggy that tops out at a leisurely 40 mph and feels no need to apologize. The founding crew feels like a design supergroup, pulling alumni from Apple, Audi, Ford, and e-bike darling Cowboy.

Built to Be Seen, Not Hidden
The team didn’t bury the mechanicals under sculpted bodywork. The One wears its skateboard-style platform out in the open, four wheels and a flat floor with the hardware left visible. It’s a look design lead Julian Hoenig traces back to NASA’s 1971 lunar rover.
The materials were deliberately chosen to add a bit of character to the EV. A cork steering wheel, marine-grade canvas roof, aluminum frame, and leather seats are all picked to patina with age rather than wear out. Oversized orange screws dot the frame, marking every part you can pull off or swap.

No Doors, No Drama
There are no doors, no oversized touchscreen, no sealed cabin walling you off from the breeze. You get a clean digital readout, physical controls, and not really much else.
Stripping the One down keeps it under 990 pounds, the magic number that lets it slot into Europe’s L7e quadricycle class and stay road legal across both the US and EU.

Slow, but Not That Slow
Now for the numbers, as modest as they are. A 15 kW motor and 12 kWh battery deliver that 40 mph top speed plus more than 60 miles of range, which is plenty when nobody’s merging onto a freeway in one of these. A standard wall socket tops it back up in roughly five and a half hours.

Resort Toy, Workhorse Optional
There’s range in how you use it, too. Fold the rear seats flat for a load bed, trade the open basket for a lockable front box, or clip on accessories through a tool-free screw-in system that bolts straight to the frame.

Resorts including Amangiri in Utah and the island of Mustique have already signed on, with hospitality deliveries starting in 2027 before the rest of us get our turn in 2028.
