Rough Crafts Gives a Honda CRF300L the Blacked-Out Street Tracker Treatment

Established in 2009 by Winston Yeh, Rough Crafts has spent the last dozen-or-so-years developing a reputation as one of the world’s premier custom motorcycle shops. And while the outfit’s reputation has largely been built on the strength of its blacked-out, carbon-clad, big-bore, multi-cylinder projects — many of which utilize Harley-Davidson donors — for Yeh’s latest one-off work, the Taiwan-based builder has opted to return to his roots, churning out his first-ever dual-sport-based build with a late-model CRF300L that’s been given a murdered-out street tracker treatment.

Christened the “Urban Half-Mile,” the Honda has received a slew of aftermarket elements and upgraded parts. Riding on a 19” Roland Sands Design wheelset shod in Dunlop DT3 flat track-spec tires, the CRF has been bestowed with a bespoke titanium exhaust system created through a collaboration with SC-Project, a one-off RC-branded MX-style seat, Rough Crafts X Koso ION LED lights, a custom RC-branded Beringer brake setup, a fender eliminator kit from 2LOUD, a custom Rough Crafts tank cap, an RK Takagaso chain, and Jared Mees signature Neken tracker bars set in a Rough Crafts riser and clamps. Now cloaked in a custom blacked-out vinyl wrap, the project has also been treated to a heavily upgraded suspension package with a race-spec YSS KG308S fork and a matching YSS G-Racing mono-shock that’s been installed using bespoke linkage arms. The dual-sport donor has also had its headlight and surrounding cowl modified, relocating the unit closer to the headstock.

While it may not be quite as involved as the rest of the two-wheeled one-off works to roll out of Rough Crafts’ headquarters, the Urban Half-Mile nonetheless represents a major departure from the shop’s typical MO, while simultaneously putting the immense range and diversity of Yeh’s world-class design capabilities on full display.
