EARTH Continues to Perfect the Bobbed BMW Cafe Racer with Its Latest Custom

Run by Ales Tomis and Vladimir Dinga, EARTH Motorcycles is a Slovakia-based customs outfit that, despite having been in operation for less than three years, has already proven that it can deliver builds that are on par with projects from the world’s most established and elite bespoke bike builders, with ultra-clean and minimalistic designs that are executed with a factory-level finish. And for the shop’s fifth build, EARTH is continuing this tradition with a bespoke BMW R80 titled “Dzivaak.”

Starting out as a 1989 R80RT, the BMW donor has been completely stripped down before being built back up as a bobbed cafe racer with a custom subframe, seat-pan, and saddle, plus a small headlight shroud that’s been fitted with a modified yellow windscreen. Now de-tabbed and powder-coated, the frame has been paired with a shortened front end and a black YSS mono-shock. The engine at the heart of the build has also received a thorough refresh, thanks to all-new piston rings, valve guides, cam chain kit, gaskets, grommets, seals, governor springs, clutch plate, and pushrod seals, just to name a few — all before the engine, gearbox, and transmission box were all sandblasted then black Cerakoted.

The build’s cockpit has also been bestowed with bespoke stainless steel top yoke nuts and stainless steel center nut, Motone clip-on handlebars with bar-end LED indicators, a custom-machined top triple, custom switchgear, and a Motogadget Tiny speedo. The BMW has also been gifted an overhauled braking setup with Venhill hoses, stainless steel banjo bolts, and bleeders, new Discacciati levers, new discs and pads, and painted calipers. Further modernizing the R80 is an Aliant LiFePo4 14Ah battery and a Motogadget M-unit Blue with alarm and keyless ignition. Tipping the scales at 100lbs less than the stock donor, EARTH’s latest build also features new aftermarket aluminum rear sets, a new front fender, Highsider LED lighting all around, and a ceramic-coated blacked out underslung dual one-into-one exhaust setup.

While the R80RT-based “Dzivaak” project is already spoken for, EARTH Motorcycles is currently accepting submissions for custom builds, though we recommend acting soon, as, with work of this caliber, it’s only a matter of time before EARTH’s waiting list is several years long.
