This Meticulously-Restored 1979 Ducati 900 Super Sport Is Currently For Sale

Essentially a sportier, more high-performance version of the brand’s earlier 860GT, the 900 Super Sport — or “900 SS” — is an incredibly significant vintage Ducati model that, despite receiving a lackluster reception upon its release, has slowly but steadily been spiking in value in recent years — an area that’s amplified by the SS’ immense rarity. Despite how rare these machines are, a beautifully-restored ’79 specimen has recently gone up for sale.

Borrowing much of its visual design from Ducati’s 750 SS, the first-generation Ducati 900 Super Sport is something of an archetypal cafe racer, boasting many of the visual elements that inspired today’s current crop of cafe’d production models. What’s more, the bike also sports a slew of signature Ducati traits, including an early L-Twin engine with bevel-driven gears on display through a transparent window — a 72-hp mill that allowed for a top speed of 135mph.

This particular investment-grade motorcycle has recently been treated to a spare-no-expensive, ground-up restoration that has returned this four-decade-old two-wheeler to its former glory. On top of its cosmetic condition, the bike’s 864cc L-Twin engine — which only has 18,010 original miles on the clock — has also been completely rebuilt. This motorcycle also wears Ducati’s classic Black and Gold paint scheme — an option introduced for the ’79 model year and one of Ducati’s most iconic liveries, only second to the even more sought-after “Green Frame” specimens.

This restored 1979 Ducati 900 Super Sport (Chassis No: 089083) is currently for sale through Miami’s Speedart Motorsports with an asking price of $50,000.

Purchase: $50,000
