Based in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley since 1946, Galpin Motors is an award-winning automotive enterprise and network of dealerships that sells an enormous amount of cars, trucks, and SUVs. Also known as Galpin Auto Sports — or “GAS” — Galpin’s monumental success and abundant sales numbers have afforded the company the ability to take part in all manner one-off vehicle projects — the latest of which sees Galpin Motors join forces with fellow SoCal dealership, Porsche Santa Clarita to deliver a bespoke vintage safari’d 911 build.
Unveiled during Monterey Car Week at the Werks Reunion — where it won the People’s Choice Award in the event’s Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge — this off-road-ready Porsche began life as a 1974 911 Carrera Targa though has received extensive modifications both inside and out. Dubbed the “Safari,” the Targa was torn down to the shell and frame before the former was adorned in a lime green paint job while the latter has been treated to a lifted suspension package with more ground clearance and additional travel. The interior of the Porsche also received a matching green roll-cage, dash, and instrumentation surrounds.
Further upping the 911’s off-roading abilities are a custom set of perforated bumpers fore and aft, a set of suspended auxiliary lights, a set of ten-arm BRAID off-road wheels shod in BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, and a hood-mounted four-unit light-pod with a removable cover that stows away in the car’s frunk. The cabin has also been custom-trimmed in a combination of cognac leather and corduroy while the lime green exterior has been accented via vintage desert racer-inspired white, orange, and red racing stripes.
With Galpin Motors having already previously completed a slew of increasingly impressive one-off works, we’re seriously excited to see what the Los Angeles area dealership whips up next.
