Leica Collaborates with Artist Olafur Eliasson on Limited Trinovid Binoculars

There’s no doubt that Leica’s cameras are some of the world’s most coveted, but what about the Red Dot’s binoculars? The German manufacturer’s signature Trinovid is one of the best models in its catalog, and an artistic joint effort with Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson has made it even better. The exclusive binoculars have been labeled the LIFE edition, and their lively color palette evokes that moniker entirely.

Spec-wise, the Trinovids are as premium as it gets, featuring 8x magnification lenses, a 404-foot field of vision, and a 16mm eye relief. This results in gorgeous, crystal-clear viewing experiences that make the most of natural colors. For portability’s sake, they weigh a sliver over 22.5 ounces, and their aluminum body is rounded out with a splash-proof finish along with HDC multicoating and AquaDura coating on the lenses.

While this is an impressive piece of gear when you account for its capabilities, the true draw is its eye-catching look, accentuated by the silhouette’s authentic 1960s design. This limited set of binoculars boasts a bright neon green leather trim and engraved accents to match, garnering inspiration from Eliasson’s work that appeared at Foundation Beyeler last year.

This functional piece of art is limited to a mere 250 examples worldwide, so we recommend you get a move on if you truly want them. Leica’s collaborative effort with Olafur Eliasson is priced at $2,299.
