Polaroid’s Land cameras are some of the most influential and recognizable cameras in the industry, and with the release of the SX-70 in 1972, Polaroid played a massive role in popularizing instant photography tech for the public. To celebrate the absolute icon status of this camera lineup, Marc from Minibrick Productions submitted a OneStep SX-70 build to LEGO IDEAS last year, and now it’s official with the LEGO IDEAS Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera.

While this is undoubtedly a fun IDEAS build, the brick experts over at LEGO have designed it as a replica, with interactive features that elevate the finished build. It’s based on the OneStep SX-70 Land camera, with 516 pieces and measuring 3.5” high, 3.5” wide, and 6” deep. After building, you can use the working viewfinder and exposure compensation dial to line up your shot, and press the red shutter button to eject a photo (after loading one in previously).

On top of the camera itself, you get some other fun play features and details by way of a Polaroid Time-Zero pack of film you can build, and it’s able to store the included LEGO photos (with one of them depicting the cofounder of Polaroid and inventor of the Land camera, Edwin H. Land, and another depicting the set designer’s sister). It’s all finished with a color spectrum stripe that runs down the middle under the lens.

The LEGO IDEAS Polaroid OneStep SX-70 is available now for pre-order starting at $79, and shipping is slated to begin on January 1st, 2024. It’s worth noting that this is an 18+ build as well, so even though it doesn’t have a crazy piece count, it should still provide a decent challenge (and any photographers you know would love it as a gift).
