For those who haven’t tried both of them together, hiking and sandals seem mutually exclusive. However, today there are some great brands that have proven why swapping your bulky closed-toe boots for something lighter and less restricting is not a bad idea. Allowing you to traverse through more types of terrain without suffering through soggy socks for the rest of your excursion is one added benefit. Likewise, sandals are easier to clean and they keep your feet cool in hot weather. There’s a reason why the planet’s earliest piece of footwear is still just as relevant today as ever.
Chaco is one brand innovating and improving upon the hiking sandal technology over the past 30 years with its flagship Z/1 and Z/Cloud models. Now, the Colorado-based company is teaming up with English outdoor gear brand Outsiders for a new take on the Z/1. Inspired by classic 4×4 Land Rovers, the sandals strike a unique aesthetic with a trio of colorways: yellow, green, and blue, each with tan accents.
Sporting the same chunky soles that Chaco is known for, the new sandal is simple, yet functional, with LUVSEAT PU footbeds and midsoles to keep your feet comfortable, and new ChacoGrip rubber outsoles for ridiculous traction that allows you to be more versatile on the trails. The adjustable straps provide great stability thanks to the polyester jacquard uppers, adjustable webbing heel risers, and ladder lock buckles for a customized fit.
Like all of Chaco’s products, the Chaco x Outsiders Z/1 Classic is reparable through its Michigan factory. The sandals are now available through Chaco’s website for $105.
