Audemars Piguet Reinvents An Iconic 1940s Chrono With The [Re]Master01
Audemars Piguet has more than a few classic wristwear models under its belt, but the days of the conventional reissue are coming to an impasse. Should watchmakers focus on the recreation of their most timeless models? Or should they revitalize their offerings for a contemporary audience? Audemars Piguet seeks to answer this question with the [Re]Master01 Self-Winding Chronograph watch.
As part of a newly-announced project from the company, the [Re]Master01 marks the debut of the brand’s modernized recreation series, focusing on the enhancement of its iconic models from the past. The watch you see here was inspired by one of Audemars Piguet’s most lauded chronograph models from the 1940s, reinterpreting it and bringing it to the modern market with the company’s latest chronograph technology and dial design. A self-winding Calibre 4409 movement keeps the watch accurate and punctual, while a 40mm stainless steel case, 18-carat pink gold bezel, and glare-proof sapphire crystal protect the timepiece’s yellow gold-toned dial. Eyecatching hints of blue have been incorporated throughout, serving in stark contrast to the [Re]Master01’s refined adornments. Head to the company’s website, where the model is slated for release at a price of $53,100, to inquire.
