When it comes to dive watches, few are more important than the Zodiac Sea Wolf. Debuting in 1953 shortly after the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, Zodiac’s mid-century budget-priced offering is today considered the second modern dive watch ever produced. These days, the now-Fossil-owned Swiss watchmaker is best known for its daring use of color, and Zodiac is showing why with its latest collaboration with online retailer Huckberry.
The Zodiac x Huckberry Super Sea Wolf Kelp Forest takes Zodiac’s tried-and-true Super Sea Wolf 53 Skin diver silhouette and gives it a fresh coat of paint via a brilliant green dial inspired by undersea kelp forests. The kelp green sunray dial was fashioned in honor of the Alaskan Kelp Forests, which play a pivotal role in the overall health of the oceans. The watch, like others in Zodiac’s vintage-inspired Sea Wolf 53 line, boasts a 39.5mm stainless steel case, 200m water resistance, C3 Super-LumiNova on the hands, indexes, and bezel pip, a double-domed AR-coated sapphire crystal, and an in-house STP 3-33 caliber automatic movement. The watch comes with a special co-branded outer box and is sold with two straps: one brown vegetable-tanned leather and one bright orange rubber.
To celebrate the launch of the watch, Huckberry sent award-winning National Geographic photographer Andy Mann to a giant kelp forest to capture the natural beauty that inspired the collaboration, which you can see in the video below. Available now exclusively from Huckberry, the Zodiac x Huckberry Super Sea Wolf Kelp Forest is priced at $1,095 and is limited to just 82 examples.
