Seiko doesn’t really do quiet birthdays. The Japanese giant has been milking anniversary celebrations for years now, and frankly, we’re not mad about it. Celebrating a 145 years as a global watchmaking force, Seiko is reaching back to the 1960s for inspiration, specifically to a color the brand has been refining since that decade: Seiko Blue.
The result is a two-watch capsule that puts a vibrant blue bezel against a silver-white dial on two of the most recognizable platforms in the Prospex lineup: the 62MAS-inspired 1965 Heritage Diver and the angular, unmistakable Samurai.

Reviving the 62MAS, Again
The HBC005 is the headliner, and it’s built on the 1965 Heritage Diver line that Seiko refreshed in 2024. That refresh slimmed the case down to a much more wearable 40mm by 13mm with a 46.4mm lug-to-lug, which is a far cry from the wrist-dominating proportions older Prospex divers were known for.
The shape is pure 62MAS DNA (and we’re suckers for it), which means slab-sided case flanks, a domed sapphire crystal with internal AR coating, and that unmistakable mid-century dive watch silhouette. Seiko’s super-hard coating runs across both the case and bracelet to keep the inevitable desk-diving scratches at bay.

Silver, White, and That Bezel
The HBC005 sees a nice anniversary color treatment. The dial is sporting a silver-white color with a subtle brushed texture, applied luminous indexes, and a deep blue, contrasting seconds hand that matches the aluminum bezel insert. It feels like a cleaner, brighter take on the typical Prospex diver formula, and there’s also a date window at 4:30 rounding out the dial.
Powering the diver is the in-house 6R55, an automatic running at 3Hz with a three-day power reserve, which also happens to be the same caliber powering the recent SPB-line releases.

The Sharper, Cheaper Sibling
The HBB001 takes the same color story and applies it to the updated Samurai platform that Seiko revised in 2024. At 41.7mm wide and 12.3mm thick with a 49.5mm lug-to-lug, it’s noticeably larger than the 1965 Heritage Diver but considerably more svelte than older Samurai generations. Of course, angular, sword-faceted case is unmistakably Samurai.
The big design twist here is the two-tone bezel: silver for the first 15 minutes, Seiko Blue for the rest. Powering it is the 4R35, Seiko’s workhorse automatic with a 41-hour power reserve. Not the most exciting movement on paper, but it’s it’s a good workhouse caliber.
