We’ve made no secret of our affection for the Hamilton Khaki Field Murph. When we reviewed the 38mm on bracelet last year, we called it arguably the finest sub-$1,000 GADA watch you can buy, and we stand by every word. But here’s the funny thing about the smaller Murph: for a watch born aboard the Endurance, it’s never actually referenced space. That all changes today with the new blue-dialed Hamilton Khaki Field Murph 38mm.

Bringing the Cosmos Back to the Cornfield
The 42mm original got the “Eureka” Morse code on its seconds hand. The 38mm got… a really nice black dial. And look, both were really great watches that we love, but there was nothing necessarily sci-fi about either of them.

Now Hamilton has given the smaller Murph its own tribute, and it’s an absolute looker. The dial glows a rich blue at the center before fading to near-black at the perimeter, a gradient Hamilton says was modeled on an interstellar comet streaking through the void.

There’s also a heavily grained texture across the surface, meant to evoke stardust, that shifts between blue and almost-black depending on the light.

The Formula Stays Frozen in Time
Everything else carries over untouched, which is exactly what we’d ask for. Same 38mm steel case at a svelte 11.1mm thick, same 44.7mm lug-to-lug, same 100m of water resistance, and the same beige cathedral hands and domed numerals filled with Super-LumiNova.

Inside beats Hamilton’s trusty H-10 automatic with its 80-hour power reserve and antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring, visible through the exhibition caseback. And with 20mm lugs plus Hamilton’s Easy Click quick-release system, strap swaps take seconds, no tools required.
