Panerai Partners with the U.S. Navy SEALs on Four Submersible Watches with Brown Camo

While there have been several watchmakers with military ties, few have run the gamut like Panerai. During World War II, the Italian navy tasked them with developing timepieces that could be visible to frogmen underwater. These were eventually sold to civilians as the Luminor Submersible in 1998. But in the past 25-plus years, countless Submersible variants have graced the market.

For its latest release, Panerai heads to this side of the pond with a collaborative quartet of boutique-exclusive Submersible variants in tandem with the U.S. Navy SEALs, featuring brown camo straps and sand brown lumed markers on the dégradé black dial, all paying homage to the legendary special forces team, whose name is given to the bottom of each dial as well.

Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Navy SEALs

Two of the Navy SEALs special-edition models are based on the 44mm QuarantaQuattro platform. Powered by the Panerai in-house P.900 automatic movement with three days of power reserve, the first is a stainless steel two-hand model with a seconds subdial and date window. Rated to 300m of water resistance, the watch sports the Navy SEALs logo engraved on the caseback.

Upping the water resistance to 500m, the second model is very similar but adds a 12-hour GMT hand (it’s powered by the P.900 GMT automatic) and swaps out the stainless steel case for a Carbotech compressed carbon fiber one. Carbotech is the lightest material Panerai works with. The back of this watch features a black DLC titanium caseback with the same SEALs engraving.

These two particular watches are not dissimilar to the Panerai x Navy SEALs release from 2023, which had different dial designs and colors. This release was also the first time the Submersible GMT was given a 44mm case size.

Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs Titanio

The last two models showcase the Submersible Titanio models, which up the case size to 47mm. The basic version of this watch looks highly similar to the non-GMT QuarantaQuattro above, but with a titanium case and Carbotech bezel. It’s powered by the P.9010 automatic movement and has a 300m of water resistance.

The second Titanio piece — the Submersible Chrono — is the most sophisticated of this collection, with a flyback chronograph function and a decidedly more military aesthetic, just like the non-SEALs version of this watch. These watches are unique for featuring chronograph seconds and minutes hands at the center of the watch instead of at the subdials. As for its case, it sports a black DLC-coated titanium material topped with a ceramic bezel, giving you 500m of water resistance.

The straps on all four watches are rubber with a Camo AOR1 pattern on a textile insert over the top.
