As smartwatches increase our reliance on technology more and more, mechanical watch enthusiasts may find themselves in a bit of a predicament. On one hand, the benefits and convenience of smartwatches are certainly alluring, but on the other hand, traditional timepieces are classic, nostalgic, and an important expression of style and personality. And while some wearers may be okay sporting one of each type (on both wrists), the average person must make some sort of compromise.
Fortunately, Montblanc has made that compromise for us with its innovative smartwatches. Crafted with the care of a mechanical watch but featuring the amenities of a smartwatch, the Summit series has fused high-tech with tradition. Now debuting the Summit 3, the German-based luxury goods company has built its latest timepiece with a lightweight 42mm titanium case and lets the user configure the dial based on Montblanc’s own horological pieces such as the Geosphere, Bohème, or 1858. However, more contemporary options are available as well.
Powered by the latest version of Google’s Wear OS, the smartwatch comes with apps that help you monitor your sleep, and blood oxygen levels, and track your health and fitness. Water-resistant up to 50m, the Summit 3 also has longer battery life compared to the Summit 2. Each watch comes with both calf leather and rubber strap options, interchangeable for more stylistic versatility. At first glance, this timepiece will look just like a chronograph, with the selection crown on the outside bookended with pushers for selecting and programming the device.
Available in either Titanium Grey, Titanium Black, or Titanium Bicolor, the Summit 3 smartwatch is currently on sale through Montblanc’s website for $1,290.
