Jaeger-LeCoultre’s eccentric variety of painstakingly detailed watches are as high-end as it gets, and the same applies to the Swiss manufacturer’s clocks. Its world-renowned Atmos line has served as a benchmark of precision since its conception in 1929, and the brand is setting a standard yet again with a new beautifully crafted homage to cherry blossoms, the Atmos Régulateur ‘Cherry Blossom.’
Thanks to the Atmos Régulater’s fully-transparent glass cabinet, the clock’s intricate mechanism is on full display. The dials are composed of two hollowed-out silver rings, paving the way for enough room to apply the gorgeous enamel touches that bring it to life. Crafted over 200 hours, Jaeger LeCoultre’s head of design claims that this is the brand’s largest piece ever created in Grand Feu enamel, deeming it an opulent rarity any way you slice it.
Stealing the show are two distinct side panels, each measuring over 7.5 inches tall by a sliver over 4 inches wide and featuring a hand-painted cherry blossom tree extending from the left, celebrating the heritage of Japan and elements of its natural beauty. By utilizing copper plates for an added touch of shine, a dry enameling technique was implemented by sifting powdered pigment, ultimately resulting in 200 hours’ worth of time put to incredible use.
Powering the watch is JLC’s in-house Calibre 582, a regulateur display showing hours and minutes on separate dials, along with a moonphase indicator that will remain accurate for 3,821 years. Like all Atmos clocks, the Cherry Blossom is powered by small changes in atmospheric pressure and requires no battery nor winding.
