Few ski resorts in the United States epitomize luxury and winter sports the way Aspen, Colorado does. In many ways, it’s the Mecca of winter getaways in American and has embodied true ski towns since its first ski lift opened in 1947. In particular, Aspen’s legendary ski resort, the Snowmass Ski Resort, is one of the most popular winter sports destinations in the world. To celebrate Aspen’s worldwide acclaim and influence, its timekeeping partner, Hublot, is making a special edition watch, the Aerofusion Aspen Snowmass.
To honor Aspen’s “black diamond anniversary,” the Swiss watchmaker made a spectacular, limited-edition timepiece. Aesthetically speaking, the watch has a striking matte black dial with rhodium-plated indices to provide visual contrast, and is made of black ceramic satin-finished and polished, with a white ceramic bezel that features the Aspen tree leaf on the titanium constructed second hand. Given the Colorado town’s history of mining, the second hand is also a homage to the silver mining heritage of the Rockies and Aspen township. Furthermore, the Aerofusion Aspen Snowmass is powered by Hublot’s HUB1155 Self-winding Skeleton Chronograph Movement. Wearers are treated to a splendid view of the timepiece’s mechanisms courtesy of its sapphire crystal that features an anti-reflective treatment. Even cooler, the case back of the timepiece has an exhibition crystal that allows its wearer to view its movement, and its case back’s crystal also has “Aspen Snowmass” inscribed on it. The timepiece also has a water resistance of 50 meters and a strap made of black rubber and white calf with black stitching.
Regardless of your views on ski towns, it’s undeniable that Hublot outdid itself when creating this gorgeous timepiece. Hublot’s Aerofusion Aspen Snowmass retails for $18,500 and is limited to an ultra-exclusive 25 pieces.
