Glashütte Original Adds an Annual Calendar to the PanoMatic Line

Glashütte Original, hailing from its namesake town — the watchmaking capital of Germany — is one of the most accomplished watchmakers in the European nation. Known for its range of proprietary movements, the brand has now unveiled its own take on the annual calendar watch with the latest addition to its acclaimed PanoMatic line.

The PanoMaticCalendar is not just a new watch but a new movement. Available in either red gold or platinum, the 42mm case houses GO’s in-house Calibre 92-09 automatic in the red gold and the 92-10 automatic in the platinum, which have a remarkable 100 hours of power reserve and a myriad of functions. Aside from the hour and minute dial, which is given a smaller silhouette and placed off-center to fit the other apertures of the expansive dial, the watch sports a small seconds subdial, a moonphase window, a digital big date complication, and a new-to-the-line retrograde panoramic month display running along the right side of the dial. The date aperture automatically adjusts the day for each month, with only March 1st requiring manual adjustment once a year due to February 29th occurring just once every four years.

This spectacular watch offers increased legibility over similar annual calendar timepieces, thanks to the PanoMatic’s trademark asymmetrical layout. The red gold version sports a beautiful silver opaline dial, while the platinum’s dial is black, but there’s more to it than that. Although both watches feature an exhibition caseback, the platinum issue has a partially-skeletonized dial as well, allowing you a glimpse of both sides of the new rhodium-plated movement.

The platinum edition is limited to just 150 pieces and comes with a black Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather strap, while the non-limited red gold version is sold on a brown strap of the same luxe material. The PanoMatic Calendar is available now from Glashütte Original’s website starting at $26,600 for the red gold, with the platinum version going for $39,100.
