In 1995, G-SHOCK debuted its now-iconic Ref. 6900 which helped solidify the brand’s style prowess. The digital watch has six unique complications and has since been released in countless colorways. A decade earlier, Casio’s innovative keyboards were helping aspiring musicians everywhere hone their skills with a user-friendly design at an accessible price point.
Back in 2020, G-SHOCK collaborated with John Mayer for an exclusive black variant of the 6900 designed by the musician himself based on the Casiotone SK-5 sampling keyboard he had as a kid. The ‘80s-themed team-up returned the following year, in partnership with Hodinkee, with a white model featuring design cues this time from the Casio PT-80 keyboard.
Now, for the third and “grand finale” release, G-SHOCK, Mayer, and Hodinkee have unveiled the Ref. 6900-PT1 timepiece inspired by the musician’s first-ever keyboard, the Casio PT-1. In contrast to the white and black versions from previous years, the new PT1 watch features a confident and playful baby blue case with black and coral accents and a matching resin strap. Inside, the cream dial features a Triple Graph display, with each graph backed by either peach, coral, or turquoise highlights.
Launching today, the G-SHOCK Ref. 6900-PT1 By John Mayer is priced at $180 and available through the Hodinkee website.
