Just weeks after unveiling the first 2100 models to pair a full resin case with a steel bracelet, G-SHOCK has now debuted arguably its coolest CasiOak model in some time. The eight-sided bezel now surrounds a fully analog chronograph dial. Let’s take a look.
Fully Analog for the First Time
We love the 2100 as much as the next G-SHOCK fanatic but we understand if the analog-digital hybrid format isn’t for you. After all, it somewhat limits the watch’s versatility and wearability despite it being arguably the classiest model from the brand — especially the Full Metal editions.
However, with the latest chronograph model, the Casio sub-brand ditches the small LCD digital display at the corner of the dial and goes full-analog on the 2100 for the first time, with a trio of subdials in tow. Fortunately, the watchmaker tapped the Full Metal case to do so, and with shiny black and ice blue dial colors. The bezels and bracelets are also made from stainless steel to match.
G-SHOCK GMC-B2100 Chronograph Basics
Dubbed the GMC-B2100, the new chronograph CasiOaks (an unofficial nickname taken from the watch’s resemblance to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak) boast 200m of water resistance, shock resistance, and an LED backlight like a standard G-SHOCK, all while measuring a bit larger at 51.3mm x 46.3mm — in part due to the redesigned octagonal crown on the one side — and weighing a bit heavier at 171g. Also, the watch is equipped with Tough Solar, helping it stand apart from most other chronographs on the market.
In terms of features, we have a stopwatch, timer, alarm, and date display. The bottom subdial measures the chronograph seconds, while the subdial at 9 o’clock reads the day of the week to match the calendar window at 4:30. The subdial at the 12 indicates which function is currently being used. You can also use your Casio app, along with Bluetooth connectivity, to manage some of your watch’s functions as well.
