Collecting old cars is one thing, but racing them is another. That’s what motorsports enthusiast Patrick Peter realized back in 1992 when he and his company Peter Auto first revived the Tour Auto (née Tour de France Automobile) as a historical car race instead. Today, Peter Auto hosts a handful of events each year, showcasing vehicles from the 1950s all the way through the ‘90s. This year, just in time for the Dix Mille Tours on August 26, French watchmaker Baltic has partnered with Peter Auto for a limited-edition timepiece.
In classic motorsports fashion, the Tricompax is Baltic’s first-ever three-counter chronograph, sporting black guilloche totalizers and a beige dial. While the second hand is orange in color, as are the accents and hand on the minutes counter, the hour counter features yellow accents and hand. Equipped with a ‘70s-inspired flat link bracelet, the 39.5mm steel case holds a Swiss-made Sellita SW-510M automatic movement with 63 hours of power reserve.
Surrounding the double dome sapphire crystal is an aluminum tachymeter bezel that can measure speeds up to 200mph. The steel caseback is engraved with “HISTORIC RACING BY PETER AUTO,” as well as the edition number. Coming in a special-edition box, the chronograph accompanies two matching stopwatches — one with a black dial and the other with a beige dial — to measure lap times thanks to the flyback function.
The Baltic x Peter Auto Tricompax chronograph will be released on August 26th at 7 pm PDT and will be limited to 300 numbered pieces, each selling for €1,975 (~$1,993).
