Since debuting in 2018, the Black Bay 58 has stood as one of Tudor’s most popular timepieces. As the BB58 has become an increasingly integral part of the Swiss brand’s lineup over the last half-dozen years, Tudor has now opted to deliver a new GMT version of the Black Bay 58 that gains a fourth hand while retaining all of the charm, design traits, and DNA that have made the BB58 such a hit in the first place.
Unveiled at the ongoing Watches and Wonders 2024 show, the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT is pieced together around what’s essentially an identical case to the existing three-hand BB58. This means a stainless steel item clocking in at 39mm and sporting 20mm lugs — albeit the new GMT model is slightly thicker at 12.8mm versus the three-hand reference’s 11.9mm dimension, plus the GMT’s lug-to-lug is a tad bigger at 47.8mm lug-to-lug (versus the three-hand’s 47mm sizing). Just like the existing BB58, the BB58 GMT maintains the same 200 meters of water resistance.
The changes to the GMT model are few, though they collectively alter the watch in a pretty significant way. For starters, the regular BB58’s dive bezel has been jettisoned in favor of a 24-hour item — an obvious and practical alteration for a GMT. The bezel also sports a gilt-equipped Coke-style setup, with a black dial encompassed via a black and burgundy bezel. Tudor’s Black Bay 58 GMT also obviously receives a new fourth hand to track a second time zone. The fourth hand consists of a longer and skinnier take on the Swiss brand’s signature snowflake hand. Thus far, Tudor is offering the BB58 GMT in two versions; one that comes with a black rubber strap; and another that comes fitted with a faux rivet-equipped three-link Oyster-style steel bracelet.
The new 2024 Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT is available now, with pricing set at $4,400 for the rubber band-equipped M7939G1A0NRU-0002 reference and $4,600 for the Oyster-equipped M7939G1A0NRU-0001.
