Thirty years ago, outerwear changed for the better, thanks to The North Face. The heritage brand’s iconic Nuptse jacket was first instituted as part of its Expedition System, though the silhouette ultimately became one of the most prominent across all of fashion. Regardless, its technical prowess reigns supreme, and TNF is acknowledging its outdoor-rooted heritage with a 30th Anniversary edition.
By retaining every bit of its versatile function, The North Face doesn’t sacrifice much of anything for this new release but adds several elements that made the 700 fill-down garment so iconic from the get-go. The commemorative piece boasts a traditional 1992 yoke and additional baffling for proper warmth distribution. Additionally, each jacket features an internal panel embellished with the brand’s catalog cover from Fall 1992 and the Nuptse’s origin story.
As we mentioned earlier, the functional piece still offers all the great features of the modern-day version, including the ability to pack into its right-hand pocket, which is bound to be convenient throughout the transitional season. Everyone from outdoor enthusiasts to streetwear traditionalists is sure to appreciate this rehashing, which is part of what makes heritage brands like The North Face so special. Lastly, the reimagined Nuptse sticks to the old-school color palette, available in red, blue, or a printed black-and-white.
The North Face’s ’92 Retro Anniversary Nuptse Jacket is available on its webshop for £310.00 (~$374).
