We’re huge fans of rooftop tents, but they force you to choose between aerodynamics and a decent night’s sleep. Camper trailers are great too, but the issue with them (see: size) is much more understood. Australia, a country where off-grid camping is truly part of their culture, always felt like the place were someone would find the perfection solution.
That somebody is Gene Corbett, an adventurer who decided the fix was a trailer with no wheels at all. And his startup’s debut product is billed as a world first. It’s called the MyGlamper, and it hangs off your towbar.

Hitched, Not Towed
The whole system packs into a hard composite case roughly 55 by 47 inches, which mounts upright against your tailgate via a patented hitch-pin system. There are no wheels, no towing, and nothing up top wrecking your fuel economy.

To setup camp, simply fold out the case onto support legs to form a raised bed platform, and the attached canvas structure airs up via an automatic pump. MyGlamper claims the full setup takes just six minutes. And each room gets its own air valve, so a puncture will only deflate a single section.

Built by a Desert Record Holder
Corbett’s background here actually brings some nice legitimacy to the mix. A professional driving instructor and safety advocate, he recently set the Guinness record for the fastest Simpson Desert crossing. In fact, he cleared the dunes in a Mahindra Scorpio in 13 hours and 21 minutes.

He’s also spent years testing the design himself, with the company claiming over 100,000 km of real-world shakedowns before opening the order books.

Lite, Plus, and a 12-Person Pro
Three trims are planned at launch. The Lite sleeps six at under 70 kg, the Plus stretches to 12 with a kitchen and ensuite, and the 110 kg Pro goes full glamper mode. It includes a hot recirculating shower, composting toilet, 30-liter water tank, 100Ah battery with solar, and automated smart controls.

For context, Thule’s Outset, the only hitch-mounted tent from a major player, runs $4,700 and sleeps three, but also has zero amenities. MyGlamper wants roughly triple the money for quadruple the headcount plus a bathroom. There is one caveat, though. Only the Lite physically exists today; the Plus and Pro remain just renders at the moment.
