Tile Upgrades Their Line of Gear Trackers with New Features & Better Range

While Apple has been getting a lot of attention for entering the Bluetooth tracker market with their AirTag earlier this year, the electronics giant owes a debt of gratitude to Tile. After all, it was Tile who pretty much invented the segment by launching their first eponymous tracker nearly a decade ago. Now, for 2021, Tile has updated their entire range of trackers by adding a host of new features and designs.

Leading the way in Tile’s lineup overhaul is the top-spec Tile Pro, which maintains its 400-foot range but has been given a sleek new keyfob design since most people attach the device to their keys. Meanwhile, the three smaller Tile devices — Mate, Slim, and Sticker — have all seen their ranges increased to 250 feet. That’s a 25% bump for the Mate and Slim and a whopping 67% raise for the Sticker. The new Mate, Slim, and Sticker also feature louder ringtones to make them easier to locate, while all four Tile devices now boast IP67 water resistance, meaning they can survive being submerged in a meter of water for 30 minutes. A new Lost & Found feature is also included on the Pro, Mate, and Slim that will make it easier to recover lost Tiles. Each of these devices now includes a QR code that can be scanned by whoever finds them to obtain the owner’s provided contact information so a reunion can be arranged. There’s also a new safety feature, coming later this year, that’s designed to reduce the risk of someone using a Tile for unauthorized tracking by allowing users to scan their area for unknown Tile devices. Finally, Tile announced the upcoming Tile Ultra, due out next year, which will be the brand’s first tracker to incorporate Ultra-Wideband technology for more precise tracking.

The new Tile Pro, Tile Mate, Tile Slim, and Tile Sticker are all available from Tile’s website now, with pricing set at $25 for the Mate, $30 for the Sticker, and $35 for both the Pro and Slim.
