Saint Laurent and Bang & Olufsen are consistently at your service when money is not an object. The prestigious luxury brands have worked hand-in-hand since their partnership began in 2017, dishing out premium speakers and headphones, and their latest project sees an icon reborn.

A Little History Lesson

The Danish audio brand’s original Beogram 4000 is often seen as its most symbolic product, fusing sleek design and premier performance to deliver a device that first set the standard in both regards when it comes to turntables.

Looks aside, the Beogram set a tone for the brand’s future turntables, as it led to the patented suspension method that made it far less sensitive to vibrations.

This is not the first time Bang & Olufsen has restored its famed turntable, having released 95 restored iterations back in 2020 without Saint Laurent’s co-sign.

Restoring a Legend

Designed by creative director Anthony Vaccarello, the reimagined Beogram 4000c was created in collaboration with Saint Laurent Rive Droite. Here, the fashion house shifts its focus toward far more limited-edition collaborations, like the ten jet-black Fender Stratocasters released in early 2023. Like the $12,500 guitar, the two brands only restored and cleaned ten of these original 1970s-era record players for modern-day use, so getting your hands on one will be a challenge — and we haven’t even discussed the price yet.

The key difference? That came in a handcrafted oak box; this time, each individually numbered example is housed in a gorgeous ziricote wood case adorned with shining aluminum details. Then, it’s finished with a joint logo acknowledging the partnership that has produced one stunning product after another. B&O has also outfitted the turntable with a new cartridge and preamplifier to round things out.

While previous collaborations born from this alliance have seen products drenched in a sleek black finish, the 4000c separates itself with its stunning wooden case; nonetheless, it’s safe to assume they would all sound great when paired together. Whether you’re a luxury fanatic, B&O historian, or physical media enthusiast, what’s not to like here?
