Now with its Piedmont Jacket, the American clothier has crafted a weatherproof option that’s a bit more suited for moderate climates.
Currently available in four colorways, including our favorite Tobacco, the Piedmont Jacket is made in the U.K. but sings with an American spirit. It’s built from a “three-season” 6oz waxed cotton shell that’s lightweight yet durable, capable of giving you plenty of coverage when the temperature dips while preventing you from getting too warm if you’re outing heats up again. Best of all, the handsome fabric will develop a patina as you wear it throughout the decades. You can also touch up the wax with Tom Beckbe’s reproofing wax.
Sporting a classic fit, the coat might be rugged but it’s certainly designed for movement, with its gusseted underarms and bi-swing back that allows for a full range of motion. Meanwhile, the set-in sleeves for a more flattering structure through the shoulders. Built for layering, it also features synthetic twill inside the sleeves that’s smooth enough to glide over the material of the shirt you’re wearing underneath. The jacket is equipped with a pair of chest pockets inside, a hidden Napoleon pocket for valuables, and two below pockets at the waist which conceal two hand-warmer pockets on the sides.
