While we’ve seen The North Face rehash its most prominent pieces repeatedly, it doesn’t make things any less exciting whenever the brand puts a new spin on something classic. The heritage outdoor outfitter is displaying its functional prowess again, this time through its Low-Fi Hi-Tek collection, a capsule dedicated to mixing fan-favorite looks with modern garment engineering.

Making impressive use of eco-friendly fabrics and proprietary technical elements, like non-PFC water-repellent finishes and WindWall, a blend of recycled polyester and sturdy cotton woven ripstop, the iconic clothier has managed to bring entirely new function to some of its most beloved designs. These include the ’86 Mountain Jacket, ’92 Nuptse Jacket, and ’78 Cargo Pants. Starting in order, the ‘80s-era piece is available in color-blocked patterns inspired by The North Face’s classic dome tent and even boasts a storable hood for enhanced weather protection — in case the water-repellent cotton wasn’t enough. Next, the timeless Nuptse Jacket retains its 700-fill goose down insulation while featuring the same weather-ready WindWall construction as the prior piece.

Working our way down to the relaxed-fitting ’78 Cargo Pants, the archival design still proves to be as capable as it was upon its initial release, offering a bevy of pockets and wind-resistant construction that’s built to withstand rough forecasts. Lastly, the brand’s Oxeye Shoes also appear as part of the capsule in a new array of colorways. The trail-ready steppers are equipped with a 3D-molded TPU cage for maximum comfort, a signature CTRL lugged outsole for enhanced traction, and a breathable upper so your feet refrain from heating up when taking on the great outdoors.
