We love a good clothing collab, and while they’re more ubiquitous than ever, it’s always exciting to see how popular brands will channel their creativity when partnering up with another force. In today’s case, we’ve got the Bay Area standout Taylor Stitch and the “Gangsta Gardener” himself, Ron Finley. Both entities have renowned reputations for their authentic approaches to their specific crafts, and their collaboration is a no-frills capsule of work-ready clothes geared towards those who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.
For those who aren’t aware of Ron Finley’s work, he got his start in Los Angeles circa 2010 when he noticed that scores of South Central citizens were living in a food desert. To combat this inequity, Ron converted a strip of grass between his sidewalk and the street into an organic community garden. When the City pushed back, so did Ron, who got the attention and adoration of Angelenos and social media. This success catapulted him into the limelight, and he has since been an advocate for the impoverished.
The Digging in Capsule channels Finley’s ethos of how “everything starts with a seed,” and communicates his message through a collection of sustainable clothes. All of the items in this six-item capsule are either upcycled, recycled, organic, or responsibly sourced. Its two, eye-catching Heavy Bag Tees that come in Hibiscus or Chlorophyll have Finley’s famous “PLANT SOME SH*T” motto on their backs, while the Fillmore Hoodie is reimagined with an embroidered sunflower on its front. The capsule also includes two Task Jackets that feature a new, plant-based wax shell, extra pockets, and action backs, as well as the Carpenter Pant that includes kick panels, internally reinforced knees, and large tool pockets.
At the end of the day, the Digging in Capsule embodies the rugged toughness and resilience of the man who risked everything to help everyone. The Taylor Stitch x Ron Finley Digging in Capsule is available for retail on Taylor Stitch’s website starting at $55.
