Stone Island is showing off its technical know-how with a head-turning luminescent jacket. As part of the Italian clothier’s 40th-anniversary celebration, the new piece is a testament to the brand’s excellent garment engineering.

The water-and-wind-resistant hooded jacket is composed of two-component luminescent film that captures light and lets it go when you’re in the dark. While its exterior is crafted from polyurethane, its hood is lined with plush cotton cupro twill and padded with Primaloft Gold for warmth’s sake. That said, the two-piece jacket’s interior is a detachable vest made of the same cotton and cupro blend that can be worn on its own.

Stone Island claims that the addition of colored cotton cupro “defines the geometry of the garment.” This eco-friendly material is remarkably soft, cool to the touch, and described as an “artificial fiber byproduct of the cotton industry.” Sustainability aside, the technical outerwear piece remains impressive. From a function perspective, it features air vents under the sleeves, snapped cuffs, a snap button closure, and four compartments, including roomy hand pockets at the front and one on the inner vest. Lastly, it’s embellished with the brand’s signature compass patch that highlights its four-decade-long celebration.
