The fashion and Automotive spaces have long influenced each other. Aside from several different purpose-built garments that were made for driving, many fashion designers have drawn inspiration from the automotive space and vice versa. In fact, several different automakers have collaborated with high-end designers to create limited-edition fashion offerings, especially over the last several years. A recent example of two killer brands in the automotive and fashion space working together is the limited-edition line of sunglasses made by Porsche tuner RUF Automobile and fashion standout SPEKTRE Eyewear.
The SPEKTRE X RUF collection embodies the strengths that bind these two companies and includes four different styles of sunglasses: the Semper Adamas, the Memento Audere Semper, the Laurent, and the Tritone. The Semper Adamas features solid, gritty, and masculine frames, as well as three round rivets on the front and two laser-engraved logos of its respective collaborators atop its frame. For the Memento Audere Semper, the two companies used SPEKTRE’s iconic model as a template to feature a classy, cool, and timeless design. It sports a squared front with a soft line and is punctuated by the repetition of the two laser-engraved logos on the top of the frame as its signature. Channeling the larger-than-life ethos of the 1980s, the Laurent employs an oversized mask and hard, squared lines for an eccentric and swanky design. Lastly, the Tritone goes bold with large, squared frames to create a stellar set of sunglasses reminiscent of the 1970s models used by racing pilots and is finished off with prominent RUF branding on the bridge.
All of the sunglasses in the SPEKTRE X RUF collection feature numbered frames, French Dalloz lenses, and german Obe hinges. Each of these lightweight, Italian-made offerings are limited to only 50 pieces per color.
