Salomon has been dominating the intersection of fashion and function over the last decade, marked by the release of the iconic Xt-6s in 2013. Last year was an especially big year for the label, dropping a variety of collabs with labels like Palace, and wander, JJJJound, and The Broken Arm. Now, Salmon has teamed up with fellow French label and longtime collaborator The Broken Arm once again to drop the Coverboot The Broken Arm, a modern clog inspired by ski boots.

Starting up top, you get a recycled sandwich mesh upper accented with suede at the heel and on the toe for protection (and style) and easy-entry webbings for simple wearing. Inside, there’s a custom-developed built-in slip-on to keep your feet secure, with a cork inlay insole for cushioning. On the bottom, there’s a Contragrip outsole for traction, and it’s finished with cobranding on the upper. Even though Salomon isn’t one to shy away from unique silhouettes, this is still a lot different from the usual slip-on styles we see from them.

These share a lot of similarities with the Walking Nordic Coverboot (designed to fit over your race boot while you’re not skiing) and also take inspiration from overshoes used for cross-country skiing. This shoe style became popular with vineyard workers over the years for their warmth and durability, and to celebrate another collaborative effort between Salomon and The Broken Arm, along with the history this style has with vineyard workers, the shoes come in an exclusive box that celebrates that history.
