To say Keith Haring’s work appearing on shoes and graphic tees is an uptrend would be an understatement. From Dr. Martens Derbys to Axel Arigato sneakers, the renowned artist has grown ubiquitous with modern wear, and Reebok is the next brand to ensure things remain that way with their latest tribute. The sneaker brand has released five of their classic silhouettes decked out in some of Haring’s signature motifs.
Inspired by the lively, joyish street art in which its collab subject revelled, Reebok will be reimagining the Classic Leather, Classic Leather Legacy AZ, Club C, Club C Legacy, and GL 6000 in their tribute to the late pop art icon. Starting with the Classic Leather, the iconic shoe comes in a black colorway and is accompanied by Haring’s prevalent barking dog motif, which made its initial appearance in his renowned collection of subway drawings through the ’80s. On the polar end of the color wheel, the Club C will deliver an array of Haring’s most famous pieces with a conversation-starting all-over print featuring the same barking dog and ever-so-popular dancing figures. The Club C comes in an eye-catching red, equipped with a subtle print of the three-eyed smiling face. Stealing the show, however, is the GL 6000, with vibrant shades of green, orange, and yellow.
Each pair is finished off with a tongue embellishment acknowledging the collaboration, which includes a reenvisioned take on Haring’s Figures Holding a Heart, with the same signature figures holding up the Reebok logo. Each rendition will be available to purchase on October 22nd with prices ranging between $80 and $100.
