It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since the Seinfeld finale aired to 76 million people, ending with a legendary showing in Times Square. The sitcom had become so massive that advertising slots were going for a million dollars during the last two episodes, the first primetime show to crack what only the Super Bowl previously could. It was the end of an era, but the summer of George is on the horizon again now that London-based fashion label Percival has announced its Seinfeld collection. Marking 25 years since the show’s final episode, the Seinfeld x Percival collection will have pieces inspired by clothing seen in the show.
Speaking of the show, some of the most iconic sitcom outfits come from it: Puddy’s 8-ball jacket, the Gore-Tex puffer, the reversible jacket, and who could forget the puffy shirt? Although Percival isn’t releasing any pirate-friendly clothing (as far as we know), the collection does include garb referencing classic episodes. For example, in “The Hamptons,” Kramer is wearing a festive lobster shirt that Percival has cleaned up a bit in its version. The Hampton Resort Shirt is a relaxed, 100% cotton button-up with embroidered lobsters featured on the lower pockets. The matching shorts make for a fresh set of clothing that Percival recommends line drying to avoid shrinkage. The Reversible Jacket, however, is a faithful recreation of the jacket from the episode – minus the suede, so you won’t need to worry about rain. Even the aforementioned puffy shirt gets some recognition with The Low Talker Knitted Shirt, among other directly inspired garments.
Other Seinfeld-inspired options Percival took more creative liberties with include The Rye T-Shirt that lifts from the classic piracy PSA and the rye-stealing episode, and The Finale Cotton Jumper featuring the cast knitted into a cotton crew neck. The collection can be mixed and matched for those wanting stand-alone options or a complete outfit in honor of the sitcom.
The Seinfeld x Percival collection releases on May 11th, with early access and purchase available through Percival’s website for a limited time.
