Being based in Los Angeles, Oliver Peoples may know the sun better than anyone else, and they’ve proven that time and time again with astounding pairs of shades. To no surprise, they’ve done so once more with their latest collection of sunglasses and eyeglasses meant to exude the spirit and work of the late Gio Ponti, renowned architect and designer. As part of their second collaboration, Oliver Peoples worked with the Gio Ponti Archives to deliver the G. Ponti-1, 2, and 3.
Boasting a bold, angular design and beveled elements that made the Italian figure so prominent in his field, each of the glasses are unique in their own right. Starting with the G. Ponti-1, which features a top bar across the frames and adjustable vintage-inspired nose pads. Crafted from titanium and acetate, the latter of which constructs the front of the frame and the former making for a sleek, durable clip and temples. The series’ second piece also takes inspiration from Ponti through its bold angular top bar and pointed titanium bridge. Lastly, the G. Ponti-3 may offer the purest look, with its lack of a top bar and fully titanium frames. All three feature rounded lenses and each pair was crafted in Japan and falls in line as the second installment of the Oliver Peoples Takumi Collection.
Starting from $625 for a pair of the G. Ponti 3 frames, all three pairs are available now through the Oliver Peoples website.
