Thoughts of leisure may not come to mind when you think of Nike gear, but with the rise of athleisure and streetwear, key players like Nike are keen to get in on the laid-back fashion movement. Nike ACG, a stylish outdoor sublabel of Nike, is also working hard at crafting apparel that caters to a modern style; heavily influenced by techwear/gorpcore. The release of the Nike Calm Slide this past summer and the revival of the ACG Moc, to name a few, saw Nike embracing the new age of footwear, while also reimagining a classic silhouette, which they’ve done again with the Nike ACG Moc Premium in “Cacao Wow”, boasting a unique textured look.
For this ACG Moc iteration, the Swoosh is hitting the funky slip-on with a textured, almost alligator skin-esque design in the “Cacao Wow” colorway. While the ACG Mocs were already known for their unique look, this lizard-like take is doubling down for sure. On the bottom, you get a speckled black rubber outsole that looks very similar to the Nike ACG Air Moc’s outsole, with a triangular tread pattern for traction. It’s finished with an unmistakable lacing system you can adjust with the toggle on the leather heel.
The OG ACG Air Moc debuted all the way back in 1994, and while the design is undoubtedly divisive, the comfort is unanimously praised by even the most fervent opposers. Nike decided to revive it earlier this year after teasing everyone in 2022, and with the rising popularity of slip-ons, it was the perfect time to breathe some new life into the silhouette.
