KEEN broke the mold when it launched the Newport in 2003, a hybrid sandal that made people double-take while also perfecting the balance between a hiking shoe and a waterproof sandal. Since then, the Oregon-based brand has been on the cutting edge of the footwear space, aiming to provide stylish silhouettes with function at their core. Earlier this year, KEEN unveiled the WK400, its first-ever shoe made expressly for walking. Now, the WK400 comes in a new Waterproof iteration for those rainy-day jaunts.

What separated the WK400 from other shoes to begin with was its KEEN.CURVE technology that’s built into the midsole to keep you propelled throughout your walk and offer a constant curve from heel to toe. You see, the act of walking precipitates a different foot shape than that of running or any other activity. And so, KEEN felt like their walking shoe should accommodate that, as few other shoes do (most focus on comfort and support when standing or running). Designed to provide you with the best option when walking to work, striding on the treadmill, or maybe even taking in the sights at an amusement park, the WK400 is an innovative walking shoe in and of itself.

Now in its new iteration, the WK400 has been given the addition of KEEN.DRY, the brand’s proprietary waterproof-breathable membrane. It’s built on top of the already-great construction of the shoe, which utilizes a breathable mesh upper with TPU overlays for durability, a high-traction rubber compound outsole with multi-directional lugs for grip, and a full-length nylon plate for stability and protection underneath. There’s also a PFAS-free durable water-repellant coating, Eco Anti-Odor properties, and a two-finger webbing pull on the heel to make it easier to slip these on.
In anticipation of the rainy months, the WK400 Waterproof is on sale now through KEEN’s website for $175.
