Founded by Charles Danner in 1932, Danner Boots got its start producing footwear for loggers in the Pacific Northwest. Because it catered to this demographic, Danner’s boots needed to not only provide ample traction and protection for their wearer while on the mountain, but they also had to be exceedingly hardwearing in order to survive the stresses and abuses that come from logging. And while the company has massively grown and evolved over the last 90-odd-years, the characteristics that defined its original boots still very much live on today through its contemporary footwear— as evidenced by models like the Danner Mountain 600 GTX. First released in 2017, the Mountain 600 has gone on to represent one of the brand’s most popular boots.
So, when Danner recently joined forces with Huckberry for their latest limited edition drop, delivering a special version of the Mountain 600 GTX was a fairly obvious choice.

Boasting a Huckberry-exclusive colorway dubbed Gold Rush, this limited edition Mountain 600 GTX variant was inspired by the frontiersmen that settled in San Francisco during gold rush in the mid-1800s. The color scheme sports a handsome combination of earth tones, primarily in the form of several different shades of brown. Completely waterproof, the boots are constructed around a set of suede uppers with a roughed-up finish. They also feature a breathable and waterproof GORE-TEX membrane, a bi-fit board construction in place of a shank, a midsole supplemented via a lasting board, a super roomy toe-box, and an ultra-grippy, low-profile Vibram Kletterlift Thin outsole.

The outsoles and uppers are pieced together using Danner’s handcrafted stitchdown construction, which massively bolsters stability and long-term durability. In a few years down the road, if they do eventually start to fail, these limited edition boots are also eligible for being re-crafted and re-soled at the Danner Recrafting Department in Portland. And while they look great right out of the box, the Gold Rush Mountain 600 GTX will also take on a unique patina over time with regular use, making for an even more handsome pair of modern heritage boots. Alongside the model-exclusive constructions and colors, this Mountain 600 variant is further distinguished from the ordinary non-LE models in Danner’s catalog by a myriad of special details including a co-branded tag and a Huckberry Tree Logo subtly adorning the heel.

The Huckberry x Danner Mountain 600 GTX Hiking Boot In Gold Rush is available now in limited numbers with pricing set at $220. These limited edition boots are exclusively offered through Huckberry.
