Japanese clothing brands are all the rage nowadays, as a surfeit of fashion houses from the Asian nation have made quite a name for themselves through the years, particularly in the realm of streetwear. On the other side of the coin — and the world — we have the old stalwart of American workwear, a concept that few brands can execute quite like Dickies. Lately, the heritage brand has been crossing over into the realms of fashion and streetwear through a series of collabs, and it’s doing so again by teaming up with Fumito Ganryu, a high-end Japanese label that’s been around the block a few times.
The star of the new capsule from the pair is the Double Jacket, which garners inspiration from the iconic Eisenhower jacket. This one, however, features some additional moto-appropriate embellishments that the former President may not have welcomed. Crafted from Dickies’ signature T/C twill material, this jacket is a surefire choice for fans of both classic Americana and luxury streetwear.
In addition to the Marlon Brando-ready jacket, the capsule also features a pair of Dickies-inspired twists on a set of Fumito’s classic garments. Making even more use of Dickies’ renowned fabric, both the Sarrouel Chino Pants and Pleated Work Shirt are two of the Japanese brand’s staples that are also seeing a Western makeover. Rounding out the collaboration are the Light OZ Work Pants, serving as a stylish substitute for the American brand’s iconic hardwearing bottoms.
Available in a number of colors, the twill tape-constructed Double Jackets are priced at $350 on Fumtio Ganryu’s website, while other pieces in the capsule start from $200.
