Flint and Tinder might be known for its Waxed Trucker Jackets and 365 Utility Blazers but it’s proven time and again that we can’t underestimate the rugged outdoor clothier. While first popping up in late 19th century, denim jackets exploded in popularity in the 1950s when the public saw celebrities like James Dean and Elvis Presley wearing them. Dubbed the Type 2 Denim Jacket, Flint and Tinder’s latest silhouette is a throwback to that era.
Before Levi’s Type III set the bar for future denim jackets, their Type II was a game changer when it dropped in 1953 with its dual front pockets and adjustable waist. Paying homage to the legendary coat, Flint and Tinder’s Type 2 features a pair of button pockets on the chest for your gear with two more side-entry hand warmer pockets towards the waist. Cut from 11.7-ounce selvedge cotton denim with 1% spandex for stretch, the fabric has been given a double-pleat construction with bar track reinforcements on the front placket. For a tailored fit, the jacket sports the emblematic waist cinches for tailoring your fit. Down the front, you’ll see a set of 5 stud buttons, along with buttons on each cuff so you can roll up the sleeves and adjust the fit even further. Other features include a lay-flat collar, a hanging loop on the inside of the collar, and 100% cotton pocket lining.
We particularly love the style of this jean jacket. Featuring a light wash design, it certainly looks like a throwback item, perhaps one from an old (very cool) relative.
