As winter creeps around the corner, it’s only right to break out some of your most suitable footwear. Luckily, the British Columbia-bred Herschel, primarily known for their backpacks and accessories, just linked up with British staple Doc Martens, primarily known for their combat boots, has got everyone covered with a pair of sturdy new boots built for any weather: the Combs II Utility Boots (and their low-top siblings, the Reeder Utility Shoes).
Crafted out of some sturdy Cordura Ballistic Nylon, this new collaboration is meant to hold up through the harshest conditions. Both pairs also boast waterproof nubuck leather uppers and reflecting tongue webbing, ensuring that their all-weather-friendly title is far from a gimmick. While this material is surely their main draw, they are also stylistically intact, with black-and-white braided laces providing a subtle speckle resemblant of snow on cement. On the back, there is an unorthodox red-and-white AirWair heel-loop, which is a major distinction from their signature black-and-yellow styling; moreover, it will go without saying that these aren’t your average pair of Docs. They are rounded out with Dr. Marten’s signature yellow-welt stitching and a black Herschel pull tab for accessibility’s sake.
This is the first time both these staples in modern-era hipster-wear have worked on an effort together, and it should come as no surprise that the prominent brands delivered as well as they did.
