An acronym for “All Conditions Gear,” ACG has remained a cult hit and has even evolved over the years. Its current lineup combines catalog staples with newer items like backpacks and towels. Nike ACG Rufus
Last year, Nike revived its classy and underrated outdoor-focused Rufus slipper after a decade-long absence from the catalog. This time around, they get a plussed-up suede upper with a small Swoosh on the side. For a more rugged aesthetic, there’s the tan option available but we truly love the navy blue variant, which brings an unusual colorway to the outdoor fray that admittedly might be a bit more glamping than camping. Nevertheless, the mocs show their versatility with a cushioned midsole, grippy rubber outsole, and a locked-in feel.
Nike ACG “Snowgrass” Cargo Shorts
Nike ACG has held one of the most unique cargo shorts in the game for some time now. A staple in their catalog, the “Snowgrass” Cargo Shorts combine style, comfort, and intrigue with its unorthodox design, sporting elastic mesh pockets on the side in place of traditional cargo pouches, allowing you to see the items inside for easier and quicker access. Given a water-repellent finish, the mid-weight recycled nylon fabric is strong and breathable. Adjusted via a webbing-style belt, the shorts are also equipped with two hand pockets as well as two on the rear that are positioned for easier access. Oh yeah, and it comes with a carabiner for attaching extra gear.
Nike ACG DAYMAX Backpack
We’re excited to see a preponderance of bags and backpacks in the ACG line in recent months. Last month, we covered the new Aysen pack but this time around we wanted to highlight the 25-liter DAYMAX. From a design perspective, the ACG motif is ever-present with the signature triangular shape extending from the webbing on the front to the buckle for the storm flap up top. The polyester (81%) and nylon (19%) shell houses a large internal pocket that comes with a laptop sleeve. Side pockets and one at the top are great for smaller gear carried on the trail.
Nike ACG “Black Iguana” Vest
Vests are an underrated choice for hiking and camping for their ability to provide coverage without overheating; a game-changer when it comes to layering, too. But Nike has gone beyond the inherent benefits of vests with its “Black Iguana,” adding a G-hook closure, four large front pockets, and a removable bottom portion that converts to a cross-body bag — not to forget about the water-repellent nylon shell built with a dash of Spandex for stretch. However, the story behind the vests might actually compete for its attention. ACG designers worked with biologists to make vests for Jamaican iguanas so they could move naturally while wearing a radio transmitter. Previously thought to be extinct for decades, these lizards were saved thanks to these efforts.
