You may be familiar with Aimé Leon Dore’s trendy café and preppy take on streetwear, but now the Queens-bred label is giving fans a taste of where it garners its inspiration. With what is now the third drop in its vintage collection installment, ALD aims to showcase the timeless array of elements from which it gets its creative spark.
From well-aged coffee table books to a set of 10 authentic Apple posters from its ‘Think Different’ campaign, this sprawling collection of vintage gear covers every base. And while each of these antique keepsakes is noteworthy, the clothing available stands out just as much. Top garments in the latest installment include ’80s-era New Balance shirts, an endless number of well-maintained graphic tees, Polo Ralph Lauren shirts with color-coated all-over prints, and handsome Woolrich coats. Other outerwear pieces include old-school denim jackets from Levi’s and L.L.Bean.
There are also some furnishings and accessories worth considering, namely a pair of lucrative timepieces: a Patek Philippe Ellipse from the ‘80s and a 50-year-old Cartier Tank Louis. Though these watches are obviously pre-owned, they remain in pristine condition, and the same applies to every other piece you’ll find in this aesthetically cohesive marketplace. While other brands like Patagonia and Levi’s have begun re-selling their vintage pieces themselves, it’s refreshing to see ALD shed some light on its influences — a pair of which just so happen to be the two previously mentioned labels.
If you’ve been hankering for the ultimate thrift shop splurge, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Aimé Leon Dore’s third installment of vintage clothing and gear is available on its web shop, with pieces starting from $15.
