The “Made in Italy” silhouettes are living proof that adidas is always looking to breathe new life into older models, and the latest pair of Gazelles is no exception, boasting a sleek and refined redesign that’s fit for the next wedding you attend.
Heritage Meets Craftsmanship
Since hitting shelves in the late ‘60s, the Gazelle silhouette has remained a staple in the brand’s lineup, becoming the poster child for the mid-90s Britpop movement and now gaining new-age respect as the Samba hype starts to dwindle. The Indoor variant dropped shortly after in the ‘70s, leaning into a sportier and sleeker look; this year, adidas refined it to the nines with a premium, Italian-made calfskin leather upper.
It’s also equipped with a suede toecap, paying homage to the OG Gazelle’s classic design while injecting some more style, and sits on top of a noticeably distinct platform sole, making these look more like Oxfords or Derby shoes, with waxed laces and faux Blake stitching to boot.
Style in Every Step
Barring high-end joint efforts from Wales Bonner, Gucci, or any of adidas’ other premium collaborators, these are easily some of the most luxurious shoes we’ve seen the brand put forth in years, building on the success of its “Made in Italy” Samba OGs that dropped last year.
