If you haven’t noticed, Seiko has been making the most of the 110th anniversary of its very first wristwatch. These first couple of months of 2023 have seen brand-new models, nostalgic homages, and re-issues of inexplicably discontinued favorites.
Reminiscent of the brand’s SNK watches from the Seiko 5 line that were essentially replaced with the Seiko 5 Sports, the new Mid-Field Collection debuts with three field watches (SRPJ81, SRPJ83, and SRPJ85) and two pilot-esque “suit style” models (SRPJ87 and SRPJ89). All five timepieces sport 36.4mm stainless steel cases with identical 4R36 caliber automatic movements.
Doubling down on the tactical aesthetic, the SRPJ83 and SRPJ85 are adorned with NATO-style straps — one in beige, which matches its respective dial, and the other a darker brown to complement its black dial. As for the third field watch, it gets a black dial with a stainless steel bracelet. On the other hand, the SRPJ87 and SRPJ89 round out the inaugural release with leather straps and more dress-focused dials in either green or beige, each depicting its 12-hour markers on the inner dial ring with the outer ring serving as more of a 60-second counter.
You can explore the collection further on Seiko’s website. The watches are priced at £260 (~$313) but are yet to be available in the United States.
