If Porsche weren’t already pushing the bounds of sportscars further with its superior range of vehicles, the folks over at its Tequipment sub-brand have continued to enhance the experience of driving those cars from both inside and out. From roof boxes to exhaust systems to car seats, the accessories label has made a point to cover every aspect of either track or road…or off-road.
Today, Porsche Tequipment has debuted its first-ever Roof Tent so drivers can better experience Mother Nature from above. While still working on their ubiquity, rooftop tents are a fantastic alternative to standard tents due to their freedom from the wet, cold ground. Insects and nocturnal creatures can also be better evaded when you’re sleeping several feet up.
Compatible with the roof transport systems on the 911, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, and Taycan models — whether or not a roof rail is installed — the Roof Tent sports two side windows for a lofted vantage point and a rooftop window for stargazing. With over 29sq.ft of floorspace, the tent comes equipped with an integrated polyfoam mattress, breathable cotton walls with insulated quilted lining, water-resistant flap zippers, and a rain cover
Of course, the German marque has been roof tent-friendly for some time (some may remember when the company offered a roof tent experience earlier this year), but now the sleepers will be specially made for the vehicles themselves. The Porsche Tequipment Roof Tent has a price tag of €4,980 (~$4,980) and is expected to roll out this November.
