Over the last few years, scale vehicle models have experienced a major influx in popularity, and in response, a handful of modelers and companies have stepped up to meet this increasing demand with ever-more complex and detailed car kits. One such outfit is Italian brand Italeri, which has just raised the bar in the scale model space with the introduction of an all-new 1:12 scale kit of Lancia’s legendary Delta HF integral 16v rally racer.
Benefitting from new, highly-detailed custom molds developed to produce this kit, this 1:12 scale model of the Group B homologation special features a slew of incredibly-lifelike scale elements including rubber wheels, plexiglass windows, and a remarkably accurate take on the Delta’s boxy, flared bodywork. Measuring 12.83”, the model’s interior is equally involved, with a full roll cage, a pair of racing seats, a race-spec fuel cell, and a full-size spare wheel. Rather than being sold as upgrade kit parts, this Lancia model comes straight from the factory with a host of thoroughly impressive minor elements such as custom aero disc wheel covers, highly-detailed instrumentation gauges, working suspension, real seatbelts, actual mirrors, an ultra-accurate recreation of the car’s engine bay, opening doors and bonnet, photo-etched and chromed parts, mini scale springs and hoses, and functional mudflaps — all of which help to collectively place the Lancia kit in a class of its own. What’s more, the kit is also sold with an included decal set that recreates the Lancia rally racer’s iconic Martini Racing livery.
