In 2019, after unveiling its insanely-high-performance Venom F5 hypercar, American tuner and marque Hennessey Performance Engineering’s Special Vehicles division announced that it was developing a drop-top roadster variant of the $1.6M coupe. Despite the legitimately world-class capabilities of the original F5 Venom — which still stands as one of the fastest production vehicles on the planet — HPE revealed an even higher-specced, track-focused version of the American-made hypercar in January of this year with its Venom F5 Revolution. Fast forward more than six months later to today, and the company is now sharing that it’s bestowed the same topless treatment upon the Revo-spec of the 1,800—HP hypercar, resulting in the Hennessey Special Vehicles Venom F5 Revolution Roadster.
Like its coupe counterpart, the Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Roadster is constructed around a carbon fiber monocoque chassis. Also crafted from carbon fiber, the hypercar’s bodywork features the same aero kit as the existing Revolution-spec Venom F5, which is capable of generating over 1,400lbs of downforce, ensuring the vehicle stays pinned to the track. Under the proverbial hood, the Sealy-based squad has fitted the car with the same mid-mounted ‘Fury’ engine found in the coupe — a twin-turbocharged combustion-only 6.6-liter V8 engine that cranks out an otherworldly 1,817hp and 1,617ft-lbs of torque.
Marking the biggest change to the platform, the roof of the vehicle has been re-engineered with a removable Alcantara-lined weatherproof panel that’s made from rigid carbon fiber composites and weighs just 18lbs. While HPE has yet to reveal the roadster’s weight, we obviously expect it to tip the scales at a bit more than the coupe variant of the vehicle, which will also likely mean an ever-so-slightly slower — but still thoroughly impressive — 0-60mph time and top speed, which on the coupe is 2.6 seconds and 250+ MPH, respectively. To debut the new model, HPE has opted to reveal the hypercar with fully-exposed all-carbon fiber bodywork. This specimen also marks the first of five limited-edition exposed-carbon examples of the Texas-built hypercar.
Limited to only 12 units worldwide, the Hennessey Special Vehicles Venom F5 Revolution Roadster is slated to make its official public debut at The Quail Motorsports Gathering, on August 18, 2023. And, despite being priced at $3,000,000, each of the 12 Venom F5 Revolution Roadster examples are all already spoken for.
